The concert was the culmination of a 9-month long venture by the Feeding the Soul Foundation to corral the musicians’ goodwill into a 13-song CD, Feeding the Soul, Volume 1: Family Dinner, which is now available for purchase with proceeds going to the Foundation’s charity work.

Who Was There: Feeding the Soul Founder Vallie Gilley was all smiles at the alfresco hors d’oeuvre reception filled with friends and supporters including mom and daughter duo Sara and Suzie Hansen, Kristine Bebout, Marcus Philips, Sarah Kahn, Cyrus Ortiz Luiz and Rachel and Justin Jonte. Katie Benson and Sarah Haywood brought out of town guest Kelly Antifonario and David and Janice Bidwell came to cheer on daughter Tristan, a featured vocalist. The Gamalinda Family, Marah, Donna, Ryan and Diane were pleased to be first in line while Pat, Peggy and Tyler Hayes pondered the selections in the beverage tent. Diana Ruiz, Candi Newton and Carolyn Whitney enjoyed the evening of music and inspiration.

The Cause: The Feeding the Soul Foundation promotes concerts for causes, engaging local artists and businesses in musical events that highlight their talents and altruism while teaming them with charities working for the common good. Since its formation in March, 2010, the Foundation has donated more than $15,000 to organizations that feed the hungry, empower young women through music, promote environmental responsibility, and free slaves around the world.Proceeds from this concert went to the Lewy Body Dementia Association, which supports sufferers of the Parkinson’s-like disease, their families and caretakers. Proceeds from the CD release benefit SuperFood Drive, which seeks to transform local food drives, national food banks and global humanitarian aid into providers of nutrient-dense, non-perishable SuperFoods.

The Good-Hearted: Public spirit spread liberally among the event sponsors who contributed to the evening’s joyous success. Among those taking up the cause were Jitter’s Coffee Pub, Performing Arts and Community Programs at The Neurosciences Institute, David Rio San Francisco, West Coast Coffee Roasters, Nika Water, Authentic Flavors, Ashley’s Party Rentals, Break Away Spirits, Inc., Engel & Vöelkers, Ha Organic Clothing, Keep A Breast Foundation, Optimal Nutrition Inc., Pedros Tacos, The Cravory, Oceanside Ale Works, Sambazon, Natalie Warr Photography, Redfearn & Associates, Twisted Oak Winery, The Fish Joint, Chuao Chocolatier and Dragon Organics at the San Pasqual Academy.

The Creative: Guests approached the Neurosciences Institute auditorium, renowned for its stunning acoustical qualities, through a brightly lit tent that glowed with promise in the crisp December evening. A montage of artisans and nonprofit vendors lined the area with colorful and unusual items for sale including adult balanced Hula Hoops, vintage glass bottles and holiday decorations hand crafted by survivors of human trafficking and provided by International Sanctuary. Jennifer Borba von Stauffenberg and the folks at Olive PR Solutions, Inc. provided a keen awareness campaign for the concert.

Get Involved: Share the hope and inspiration of the New Year by purchasing a Feeding the Soul, Volume 1: Family Dinner CD for yourself and a friend. Featuring 13 local musicians and music ranging from folk-inspired harmonies to hip-hop and ballads, it’s sure to have you dancing your way toward a better world.
