It was a brisk and purposeful crowd imbued with energy and gathered to network, socialize and honor an impressive milestone: The 75th Anniversary of the Jewish Federation of San Diego County. Many conversations took on a global flavor with accents from Great Britain, Australia and Mexico filling even the quiet corners of the Hilton San Diego Bayfront as more than 700 people engaged in the work of a vibrant community.

Who Was There:Among the event’s goals was honoring past presidents of the Federation and Women’s Association, and many were there including Jane Scher (1996–1997), Jacqueline Woolf (1993–1994) Rebecca Newman (1987–1989), Andrea Oster (1990–1991), Mary Ann Scher (2000–2002) and Beverley Pamensky (2006–2007) who moved gracefully among the various groups of guests. Steven and Amy Morris enjoyed the company of Danielle and Brian Miller. (Steven is President and CEO of the Federation). Mel and Linda Katz and Julie and Mitch Dubick as well as Edward and Pamela Carnet, Susan Shmalo and Roanne Gotthelf relished in the time to catch up. Ashley Stone and Goli Lerner were resplendent in vibrant colors with handsome Ryan Stone and Ian Lerner by their sides. Also pleased to attend were Assemblyman Marty Block, Cindy and Wayne Schwartz, Melissa Garfield Bartell, Michael Bartell, Marcia and Len Fram, Dennis and Marcia Berman, Joan and Harry Gruber and Murray and Elaine Galinson.

The Cause: The Jewish Federation addresses needs both locally and globally with initiatives to build a deep-rooted and inclusive local Jewish community, enhance the wellbeing of Jews throughout the world, and support global emergency relief efforts for both Jews and non-Jews. Projects targeting community planning, philanthropic fundraising, partnerships with synagogues and service organizations, advocating to the government and media on Jewish issues, developing leaders, and supporting Jewish education and culture have mobilized three-quarters of a century of volunteers driven to "help repair the world."

The Good-Hearted: A plethora of corporate partners honoring this important moment in the Federation's history was led by signature sponsor the San Diego Jewish Journal and platinum sponsors Foster Investment Corporation/Carleton Management, Inc., Orange Restoration and Sempra Energy. The Hilton San Diego Bayfront provided an inviting and opulent location for a worthy celebration, and Mintz Levin, Day and Night Power Sweeping, High Clarity, Anthology, Geppetto’s, Gerber Goldschmidt Group, PacVentures, Macsteel, WebHeat, Waxie and NTC Promenade came through with thoughtful assistance.

The Creative: Conceptual table centerpieces featured a scrapbook's-worth of framed photographs, mementos, and back issues of Exodus magazine and celebration programs from prior events. Musical entertainment by The Trip delivered an injection of classic rock, Voice and Video furnished solid and professional sound service and Rick Prickett was the golden-throated announcer.
