Construction this weekend on San Diego’s trolley system and the LOSSAN coastal corridor will continue to frustrate commuters as crews continue working this weekend in efforts to improve passenger and freight service.

Portions of the LOSSAN rail line will be closed between downtown San Diego and Orange County for the second weekend in a row. Trolley service around downtown San Diego will also be affected due to construction on both the MTS Orange and Blue lines. Installation of a second Amtrak rail in the Carlsbad area will continue south of Cannon Road throughout this weekend (October 28-30.)

Construction on a new rail bridge at Trestles Beach near the Orange County line will continue for two additional weekends, October 28-30, and November 4-6. Shuttle service will be available for passengers traveling through Oceanside, Carlsbad Village and Poinsettia COASTER Station throughout this weekend. COASTER service between Carlsbad Poinsettia and downtown San Diego stations will continue as scheduled.

There won’t be any impact to COASTER services on Sunday, October 30, or the weekend of November 4-6. Motorcoach service will be provided for passengers traveling the Amtrak Pacific Surfliner between Irvine and San Diego this weekend (Oct. 28-30) as well as next weekend (Nov. 4-6.) Metrolink lines will not operate in Orange County and the Inland Empire-Orange County lines from Los Angeles Union Station to Oceanside, and from San Bernardino to Oceanside on Saturdays and Sundays this weekend and next weekend.

Select late night trains will also be affected Friday, October 28, and Friday November 4. Temporary bus schedules are set to be posted at stations along the corridor from L.A. to San Diego. For a second weekend, Trolleys will not run between the Old Town Transit Center and the City College Transit Center. Shuttle bus service will be provided in lieu of the closures.
