San Diego SportsHall of Fame Induction Photo AlbumPadre Pride travels 3000 miles By Deborah Brancheau • Sat, Aug 4th, 2007![]() Induction Program Copyright©2006 sandiego.com, Inc. This past weekend I had the opportunity of a lifetime. I was fortunate to be able to travel 3,000 miles to Cooperstown, New York to witness history in the making, the induction of Tony Gwynn and Cal Ripken into baseball's Hall of Fame. I took a lot of photos, some good, some not so good (you be the judge) and have provided a link here for you to view them. With nearly 75,000 fans in attendance, the crowd was enormous extending all the way back to the trees nearly 300 yards away from the stage. By 9:30 in the morning the grounds were nearly full forcing any new arrivals to settle across the street. For hours before the ceremony, fans continued to arrive in a seamingly unending train of charter buses. Not surprisingly, I was one of the priviledged fans that got to witness the event from the boondocks. As you can see, all the photographs of the ceremony are distant and unclear. However, I tried my best to get shots that included interesting footage being shown on the big screen. I've also included in this slide show some shots from around Cooperstown and the Hall itself to give you a feeling of what it was like to be there.
