An exciting matchup is taking place here in San Diego for the first time. The World Football Challenge is bringing international football teams to play in a tournament across the United States.

Real Madrid and Chivas de Guadalajara will be dueling out in the World Football Challenge (WFC) tournament tonight, July 20 at 8 p.m. This tournament is made up of 13 football clubs from Europe and North America. Some of these teams include: Manchester United, FC Barcelona, the New England Revolution, LA Galaxy and Vancouver Whitecaps.

This international club football competition has been held since the summer of 2009. However, due to the 2010 FIFA World Cup, this will only be the second time that WFC has been held. This is also the first WFC event that Major League Soccer (MLS) has participated in, giving the United States some much needed publicity for their football players.

The WFC is a preseason U.S. tour for teams to play in an exhibition tournament as an opener for their seasons. There are 14 total games that take place and there are a lot of good games to come.

On Saturday, July 30, FC Barcelona will be playing Manchester United in Landover, Md. at 7 p.m. ET, this is a game you will not want to miss. Barcelona was the winner of the Spanish League in the 2010-2011 season and will be coming out for their first game wanting to win. Manchester United started off the WFC by defeating the New England Revolution 4-1 and will be facing Barcelona for their third and final game in the tournament.

Tonight’s game brings some of the best players out, and gives the United States the chance to watch these international teams up close and personal. The WFC has already doubled the amount of teams participating within the last two years. Hopefully they will continue this trend and bring over even more teams to watch in the years to come.

Chivas are hoping for a win tonight, although their matchup is a tough one. Real Madrid seems to be the projected winner based on the top-level players that they have on the field. Cristiano Ronaldo, star forward, has over 200 goals in his career and is seen as an international football icon. Kaká is another key player who has just come back from an injury and is looking to restart his body and mind to take down Chivas, just as he did on Saturday against the LA Galaxy.

Real Madrid had a 4-1 win over the Los Angeles Galaxy on Saturday and is looking to continue to defeat the rest of their competition. This will be the first game for Chivas in the WFC. Tonight’s game should be a good indicator to see just how ready and prepared they are.

In each respective league, Chivas and Real Madrid are the two teams that have won the most championships. This goes to show that it should be an exciting face-off between two undeniably good teams.

For the lucky people who have tickets to this exhilarating game, know that Qualcomm has a very large parking lot, but it still fills up quickly. They have advised guests to arrive 3 hours prior to start time at any large event to ensure that you get inside and seated on time. If the parking lot is full, you can go to any Mission Valley trolley stop and ride the trolley right to the stadium.

If you are still looking to come out to Qualcomm to support either Real Madrid or Chivas de Guadalajara in the matchup tonight, you can purchase tickets through Qualcomm Stadium and Ticketmaster. You can also find group deals and packages to try and keep the prices as low as possible.

Traffic is going to be fairly heavy tonight with the amount of fans showing up for the game. The only entrance to the stadium is off of Friars Road, which is another reason to leave early and avoid the rush.

Ticket pricing starts at $40 for D level upper deck seats and goes up to $125 for field level seats. There are also specialty on-field seats for $300.

You can find all of the official rules and regulations of the tournament at http://www.mlssoccer.com/wfc
